Every home in the world should have at least one aloe vera plant. It has properties too good to be wasted! Since ancient times it has  been used for its medicinal and cosmetic effects. In this article we will introduce you to the best aloe vera home remedies.

Aloe vera or aloe vera: a gift from nature

Aloe Vera Gel

Ancient civilizations already used this plant: Egyptians, Greeks and Romans knew the healing properties of aloe vera.

The Arabs have always liked this plant a lot, and were responsible for taking the aloe vera to the Iberian Peninsula, from where it spread to other places.

Known for its green, fleshy, thick and thorny leaves,  aloe vera gel can be obtained by cutting one of the leaves horizontally.

The aqueous fluid is anti-inflammatory, healing, stimulates tissue growth and is antiseptic.

  • In external use, aloe vera serves to heal burns and wound healing, fight fungus, cure dermatitis and prevent stretch marks.
  • If used internally, it works for constipation, ulcers, intestinal inflammation and dysentery.

Different ways to enjoy the benefits of aloe vera medicines

Aloe vera can be used in many ways. First, as a gel.

It is recommended for all types of skin problems (including rashes, eczema, insect bites, acne and hair loss):

  • Cut at the base of the stems or leaves. Best if it’s the one closest to the ground and away from the plant.  It must measure at least 40 cm in length and 6 cm in width.
  • Wash thoroughly and remove spines from sides. Then cut horizontally and, with a spoon, remove the gel from inside.
  • This product can be placed in a bowl or jar and stored for a few days in the refrigerator (works much better when it’s cold).

Another option to enjoy the benefits of aloe vera-based remedies is making a  juice :

  • For this, it uses  all of the plant except the thorns and yellow sap.
  • Cut the rest into small slices and put it in a blender with 1 liter of water.
  • You can keep it in the fridge, although it is recommended to consume it fresh.
