Advice for outlining the eyes
1. Know which eyeliner is best for you
Before you start to outline your eyes, you need to know what types of eyeliners exist and which one is most convenient for you:
- Pencil: It’s perfect if you don’t have a lot of experience, it can be smoother than liquids or gels.
- Pen: These eyeliners are very similar to liquids, with the difference that they have an internal compartment to store the ink.
- Liquid: Requires greater precision, but is darker and has a pen-shaped tip.
- Gel: It is easier to apply and can come in small bottles and accompanied by a brush.
2. The trembling hand
Most women can have complications with keeping their hands steady, but it’s also a problem that doesn’t need to ruin our makeup.
You just must:
- Sit in a place with sufficient lighting so you can see as well as apply.
- Let your elbow rest on a flat surface as this will help to eliminate the irregular movement of your hand.
- When outlining, try to rest your little finger on your cheekbone: this way, you can completely stabilize the tremor.
- Hold your breath : this will avoid any surprise movement.
3. Guide points and the eyeliner
If you don’t have a lot of experience with eyeliner, you can start by drawing guide points on the eyelid, and join them together at the end.
You can also experiment with drawing lines: the trick is to make them thinner and as close to the lashes as possible.
4. Don’t stretch your skin
While it may seem easier when you do this, when you get it back to normal, the outline will become a disaster.
If you can’t help it, simply clean the lines with a little makeup remover and a cotton swab, or use a concealer over the excess.
5. Outlined with tape
This is one of the best advice for outlining your eyes. If you want an outline with a fine and perfect point, but find it difficult to do this freehand, we recommend:
- Get a piece of duct tape.
- Place between the eyelash and the eyebrow, or at the height of the corner of the eye (as in the upper image).
- Use eyeliner regularly.
- Allow to dry enough.
- Carefully remove the adhesive tape.
You can also make a homemade mold from some unused card.
6. Freeze your eyeliner
If your pencil eyeliner has started to fall apart or break, consider doing the following:
- Clean the tip carefully
- Close it tightly.
- Put it in the freezer.
- Let stand for at least 20 minutes.
Doing so will allow it to compress again, and so you’ll avoid a mishap of your makeup in the future.
7. To have more impactful eyes
If you want everyone to focus on your eyes, outline the inside of your eyelid as this will add depth to your eye and make it stand out even more.
9. In emergency cases, use mascara
If you are in trouble and cannot find your eyeliner, or if it has run out, do the following:
- Look for a fine brush.
- Use a mascara brush to remove the product from its packaging.
- Outline your eyes normally.
Mascara contains the same shade of color as eyeliner, so you won’t be able to tell the difference.
10. The kitten style
This is the style most desired by all, as it gives a feeling of elegance and sensuality, in addition to never going out of style.
If you are looking for a perfect kitten outline, follow these steps:
- Make sure your eyelid is completely dry before starting.
- Shake your eyeliner well to avoid lumps.
- Make a basic outline with the point up.
- Please note the format before proceeding. If the height doesn’t suit you, lift the tip a little higher.
- Make a completely straight line from the tip to the center of the eyelid.
- Fill in the remaining space.
- Let it dry.
- Repeat with the other eye.
