Surely you’ve heard and read that family time is extremely important and therefore valuable. Not only because it brings us closer to our loved ones, but because it  strengthens us as people on a psychic level, which translates into multiple benefits in everyday life. In view of this, we propose some activities that you can organize in the garden to spend time with the family.

The idea is to enjoy one or more simple activities with your family, which will allow everyone to develop spontaneously. Why is that so important? Very simple, because it guarantees the common good, but without neglecting the individual.

Doctors point out that, although it seems like something very simple, these activities provide a lot of vitality and pleasure. We will give you some ideas:

1. Organize, prune and plant flowers in the garden

Obviously, this is the first activity that can be done in the garden. While it seems like it just takes work and effort, in reality it’s a fun pastime that allows us to connect with people in a different way. On the other hand, it’s very educational, which greatly enhances personal development.

You can organize a gardening session with your family and make this activity a true group dynamic. Delegate tasks and try to combine different degrees of difficulty so that no one gets bored. On the other hand,  try to take a timer with you to ensure that no task takes too long. A good idea is to make a kind of circuit.

For young children, it is a good idea to organize field exploration activities, assessment of plant status (so they can tell you which ones need more care). By actively including them in the process, they will feel valued and motivated to learn more and will feel proud to help care for the environment.

For example, you can ask your elders to prune dry dry leaves or ones that have holes made by insects. While the younger ones can pull out the weeds (for this, you must carefully show which weeds are, so that they identify them correctly and do not remove all the plants that come their way).

At the end, you can share a small snack as a reward. A fruit sorbet or a cold lemonade are excellent options.

2. A special meal

Al fresco dining is enjoyed in a very special way. In this sense, we are the ones who decide what we want and how we want it: a barbecue, a lunch, a picnic, a varied snack, a mini dessert session… the options are many. The best thing about this type of garden activity is that we can invite friends and even neighbors with whom we have a good relationship.

3. Bike Circuit

If your patio is big enough, you can use it to organize activities, exercise or cycling tours. A good idea to combine physical exercise with the fun part is to build a circuit.

For this you will need some sticks, ribbons, chalk and a few more things. Invite everyone who likes to ride a bike in your house and challenge them to complete the circuit, then you’ll just have to say the famous opening phrase: “On your brands. Ready? Already!”

If not everyone has bicycles, don’t worry, you can also do a standard circuit or a relay race. It never hurts to remember that the important thing is not the competition itself, but enjoying time with the family.

4. Collect natural curiosities

There are many natural curiosities in the garden. Take advantage of them! Especially if you have young children, encourage them to start a collection of leaves, flowers, or stones. They can take time to sort the sheets by size, color, shape, and so on.

Everyone will have a lot of fun and learn too. To add more fun to the activity, you can propose challenges such as “Whoever finds a yellow flower will win a packet of snacks”.

5. Camping

You can camp in the garden (for an afternoon or an entire day). You will have a lot of fun with all the family members,  and will enjoy moments of singing accompanied by a guitar, telling stories, laughing, cooking, etc. In short, everything that can be done in a group.

6. Gardening

Starting to cultivate a family garden is an activity that fosters communication and encourages cooperation in each member of the family. Furthermore, it  is very exciting to work towards the goal (in this case, seeing the fruits of a plant).

7. Outdoor cinema

If you want to spend some time relaxed and peaceful, an outdoor movie session is a great idea. As an additional measure, we can improvise a type of meeting (before or after the movie) to share and get closer to our loved ones. The important thing will be to ensure that no one gets bored.

8. Chase Games

Games of this type are ideal for laughing, moving and creating very pleasant family memories. Some of the most popular are: hide and seek, police and thief and tag. Children love it. And these activities also help adults to keep fit and not forget about their inner child.
